Just a girl and her dogs. Currently owned by two amazing dogs: Ben (aka Spanley's Greatest Adventure), an amazing Heinz 57 mutt (supposedly a Border Collie mix, he turned out to be a mix of Treeing Walker Coonhound, Norwegian Elkhound, Chow, Pit bull, Beagle, American Eskimo and GSD, plus a few others they can't even guess at) who is an agility superstar (and has no titles because I have no money to go to trials!) and a Border Collie named Lea (aka Wescot's Follow Your Arrow), who just came home to us in September 2019. My heart is still owned by the bestest of best girls, Dahlia CTL1, CTL2-H, NTD, CGC (aka Spanley's One of the Seven), a Border Collie/Golden Retriever mix who we adopted in 2008 and lost to kidney disease in August 2019. My interests include agility, photography, Irish traditional music, playing in a community band, Star Wars (Reylo) Once Upon a Time (Rumbelle), Harry Potter (Snamione), Phantom of the Opera (Erik/Christine), Pirates of the Caribbean (Sparrabeth) and DragonLance (Raistlin/Crysania).
It’s the most in-character, non-gross thing they could’ve done to develop Loki’s character without Thor there to spur it along.
Of course Loki would only give himself the chance to be fascinated by another person if that other person were a version of himself. But the reason he falls in love with her is not because she’s him. Loki falls in love with Sylvie because of all the ways she is not him. The TVA and the battle of New York bring his whole fragile ideaology about himself and his own identity crumbling down in the first episode. In the second he’s grasping at any way to rebuild that ideaology. In the third, he sees Sylvie, who, instead of finding her worth from stepping into a power vacuum, is simply working to create one. He sees that she is a Loki who can do the one thing he was always incapable or afraid of doing: being different. Changing.
They’re like River and the Doctor. They’re coming from two different directions. Loki has just started to learn what it might be like if he could stop trying to find his worth in power, because Sylvie doesn’t find her worth in power. And Sylvie is just starting to learn, by the last episode, that getting revenge on the powerful being she thinks ruined her life won’t fill the hole inside her…and Loki had already learned that lesson.
It’s not gross that Loki is in love with himself because Loki isn’t in love with himself. He’s in love with a woman who has a lot of the same background as him, but is completely different from him nevertheless. Quit trying to find some social-justice cause to slap onto your reasoning for why theSylki ship doesn’t work. The truth is, it does work. It’s genius. You just don’t like that he didn’t end up with someone else.
the more I think about it the more I understand why there’s a lot of crossover between reylo and sylki shippers
besides the many parallels people have already delved upon, consider this:
- one of them has had a seemingly comfortable childhood, but despite being loved they perceived it as a negative experience, due to emotionally stunted/somewhat absent parent(s) (not bringing Frigga into this because she was an excellent mom), and a feeling of not fitting in/being tiptoed around because of their origin (being Darth Vader’s grandson/being a Frost Giant)
- the other has had to run and/or survive from a very young age, completely alone.
YES. One was raised as a prince only to find out so much of his life was a lie.
The other is a feral gremlin taken from her parents at too young of an age and forced to survive on her own.
I'm a Reylo and a Sylki shipper. TROS felt like a betrayal to the Reylos. I was in shock for a long time. If Loki goes the same way, I don't know how I'll react. Trying to be confident, particularly since we're getting a second season, but its hard after we were burned so badly.
this is how it feels to be gaslit, right? because Loki is not shying away from romance and everything points to a hopeful ending, yet some of us reylos resort to doubting because it’s safer than being let down like we were after TROS
Yup I have been burned SO HARD by TROS that I’m half dreading the final episode of Loki.
That definitely made me sit up and notice. But definitely by the time they were sitting watching the world go to hell around them and holding hands I was like “oh fuck I am so fucked…”
Also, Loki’s “You’re so weird!” I don’t know why, but that moment I was like “oh shit I’m gonna end up shipping these two idiots aren’t I?”

Ben killed his father and was haunted by it, Loki caused his mothers death and was haunted by it
Ben hides behind a mask, Loki hides behind his illusions
Palpatine had been every voice in Ben’s head manipulating him, Thanos used the mind stone to manipulate Loki
Ben’s parents still love him despite the horrible things he’s done, Loki’s parents and brother still love him despite the horrible things he’s done
Right before Ben dies he reclaims the identity of Ben Solo, right before Loki dies he reclaims the identity of Odin’s son
Ben dies to save Rey, Loki dies to save Thor
They both try to hide their emotions but there are moments when their true feelings seep through
Both are literal space princes
Loki says “It’s too late” right before stabbing his brother. Ben says “It’s too late” right before stabbing his father
Loki says that he doesn’t enjoy hurting people. It’s clear Ben doesn’t either, he always put up a defensive stance as much as he could
Both fall in love with a girl who is literally their other half
Both fall head over heels in love when they touch that girls hand
Both are obviously lying when they say they’ll kill that girl
Ben teams up with Rey to take down Snoke’s guards, Loki teams up with Sylvie to take down the timekeepers guards
They are both terrible at expressing their feelings

OMG the memories! I’ve been on there since like 2000 I think.
Yeah I’ve been on since about 2001. Been reading fanfiction since I was 11
I started writing it in 1990. I was 14 and had no clue what I was writing was fanfiction (and no place to read others!). I just wanted to write things based on my favorite stories. I found out in 1999 that not only was fanfiction a thing, but OMG OTHER PEOPLE WROTE IT TOO.
I remember when it didn’t exist… I’m fairly certain ASMR was the first fanfiction website I used, other than the more local smaller fandom websites. I only signed up for an account on FFN in 2001 because I didn’t want to continue hosting my own website and wanted some place other than my friends’ archives to put my work since there were times they’d decide to delete everything that they didn’t like and restart their collections. What I term as local smaller fandom websites was really just readers who either got permission to repost their favourite stories from the authors or who posted it regardless because they wanted to have a copy of the work.
Yeah the first fandom stuff I did was from a message board and a small ring of Phantom of the Opera fan sites. That was when I discovered other people did this too! And then someone found out there was FFN created, so we all rushed over to join in 2000 and post our stuff.
I had my own website (GEOCITIES FTW lol) and housed my own fanfic and some friends’ works too. It moved around from one free site to another until I didn’t long in enough and the whole thing was yanked from a site. I never put it back up.
